Marjorie Hart (April 15, 1924 – October 7, 2024) was the former chairman of the Fine Arts Department; at the University of San Diego and a professional cellist who held positions with the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego Opera, the Starlight Opera, the Alcala Trio, as well as with a number of chamber music ensembles.. Highlights of her career included a master class with Pablo Casals, hosting Aaron Copeland at the University of San Diego, and playing with luminaries such as Nelson Riddle’s orchestra, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., Andy Williams, and Peggy Lee. Hart was the mother of four children, grandmother of nine grandchildren, and great-grandmother to a growing clan of fifteen great-grandchildren. Inspired to start writing by her grandchildren, she was also the author of the New York Times best-selling memoir, Summer at Tiffany, and its prequel, Story City Stories.
